Description

In this bark piece, Itaúba's texture reveals itself in layers that time has been peeling away. The bark carries marks of sun, water, and microorganisms that inhabited it — a cartography of existence written without intention and read with the hands.

Brass does not intervene, merely underlines. The braided cotton thread creates lines of connection between the fissures, like paths inviting touch to traverse the surface and listen, through the fingertips, to what the wood has to say.

Provenance

Itaúba bark piece reclaimed from sustainable forest management in Mato Grosso.
